Cable Modems -
If your internet connections are so slow that you are absolutely going out of your mind, you might want to consider cable modems. Cable modems are similar to the devices you used to have, back when you had cable television instead of satellite reception. If you hook up cable modems to a local cable television line, you can get data at about 1.5 megabytes per second. When you compare the 1.5 mbps download rate of cable modems with the speed you would get with a 56 kilobytes per second dial-up modem, you see that cable modems offer a significant advantage over the traditional dial-up system. One downside of cable modems is that quite often, the cable company will force you to subscribe to cable television in order to gain access to cable modems. Another disadvantage of cable modems is that in order to use them you need to be wired to the cable wall outlet in some way, which prevents portability within the house. Using cable modems will free your phone lines, however, so the advantages may well outweigh any disadvantages associated with doing business with the cable company.
