Citizenship -

A lot of people in the United States take their U.S. citizenship for granted. That is a pity, because many people would give everything they have for American citizenship. If you consider the number of people who sneak across our borders illegally just for the chance to live in America, you know how precious a commodity our citizenship is to people who are not as blessed as we are.

Many of the illegal aliens who come here go to great lengths to obtain their U.S. citizenship. By the time they earn citizenship, foreign-born Americans often know more about the workings of our country than do native-born Americans. In order to earn citizenship, prospective citizens must take classes and study the American system of government. Most men and women who have recently earned their citizenship are well versed in American civics, and almost all of them are proud to go to the polls and vote whenever they are able to do so. We who have always had our citizenship can take a lesson from some of these new American citizens.
