Sexual Harassment -

Sexual harassment is defined as any unwelcome sexual advances, jokes, talk, touching, etc. In the workplace, sexual harassment often has this added indignity: if you don't cooperate, you'll lose your job. In fact, sexual harassment of a subordinate by a superior is one of the most common and least reported forms of sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment is not confined to men; women can engage in sexual harassment as well. And sexual harassment can be homosexual in nature, regardless of the victim's sexual orientation. Sexual harassment encompasses any and all unwelcome sexual advances, including conversation of a sexual nature. And the victim can be someone who just happens to overhear offensive language, whether that language was intended to harass anyone or not.

So the key is to be careful what you say and do when it comes to sexuality. If you are consistently courteous and considerate, you aren't as likely to be accused of sexual harassment. However, if you are the victim of sexual harassment, first tell the harasser to stop, then contact the appropriate authorities. Don't just do nothing and hope it goes away, because it probably won't.
